Kudos to the Family Building Society (launched in July) for admitting what everyone knows, namely that returns on savings deposits are "fairly awful".
By way of compensation the building society is offering savers the chance
to win a £50,000 tax-free cash prize, each time they deposit £10,000 into a "Windfall
bond" (which will earn 0.5%).
